Water main extension at WASD

Miami Dade Water and Sewer department ( WASD ) requires new home owners within a feasible distance to provide a watermain extension to service new construction that was previously not connected. This applies to both Water and Sewer service in Miami Dade County. WASD and Miami Dade county DERM have developed a criteria for this type of connection.

Investors or home owners interested in developing or expanding existing structures should contact DERM and request a letter of interpretation with DERM.  We also recommend they contact Miami Dade water and Sewer.  Review the record drawings, see for yourself what is available. As-built drawings are public record and available for a small fee, typically $ 5/sheet.

We see architects, developers and homeowners getting ready to start construction with financing in place. The plans have only one comment to go. “Need Water and Sewer Approval” Unfortunately at this point you need to go to WASD apply for the developers agreement, hire a civil engineer and begin the plans review process from WASD, DERM, Department of health (DOH), Fire, Public Works etc. Add 6-12 months for this process.  You have several options to expedite the review, however it’s still a long process. The cost of a water main extension significant. Typically not part of the original budget.

Feel free to contact Florida Pipeline Company with any questions regarding Water ,Sewer, & Storm Water. We have extensive knowledge and service the entire state. We design and install water lines and have great working relationships at WASD.

Best of luck
